The Move…

So today, the family moved from Dryden to Shelby Twp.   One of the greatest things about this move (the 6th in 3 years) is that this move does not also include a change in jobs.

We found out just a few weeks ago that the house we were renting was being put on the market again to try and be sold.  While this is a great thing for the owners of the home, this is not such a great thing for my family as we have another little one on the way.  We dont want to be somewhere with a new little man around the house where we may, at any time, get a call that we have 2 months notice to relocate.

So we started praying – and searching – and very quickly – God showed up, in His usual “I know better than you” fashion, and in our first day of searching, and the very first place Ashley looked at online, turned out to be perfect.  We walked in, and pretty much right away felt excited.  It even smelled awesome.  (we walked in the front door and I remember saying to Ashley, “This place even smells nice”).  This was followed by Jadyn – dancing around the condo – looking at me and says “it’s perfect Jimmy!”.  We were praying for a billboard from God – and He sure gave us one.

2 weeks later – yeah – thats right – 2 weeks later…My 8 months prego wife and I, moved our family to Shelby.  Now, its sad to not be in a “house” anymore.  BUT – its amazing to be so much closer to the rest of the world again.  Plus – we have some great neighbors, we’re 10 minutes from church (instead of 20), the place is practically brand new, there is no propane tank (if you ever get the chance for that, pass on that), we’re closer to family, closer to target (maybe not a great thing $$$$$), and we’re closer to our friends – and the community that we are reaching through our ministry at StoneRidge.

Its not always easy to understand the road map God has created for us.  Sometimes its hard when we look at our lives, and we’re married with soon to be 2 kids, and we figured when we were young, that ‘d have a house in the burbs – and tons of ’security’…But thats not what God wanted for us.  So we’ve moved a lot, yes – and we are still renting – true…but we have an amazing family.  And each move has proved itself, and revealed something that I think God wanted us to know about ourselves and about Him.  We’re the family on the road less traveled…Yet – God has cleary laid this road out for us.  We’re excited as we start this new adventure…2 kids, and 6 houses later – I can proudly and confidently say that we’re following God in our family.

“As for me and my house – we will serve the Lord”.
May the Lord bless you and Keep you…dancin’

Much Love

    • Many blessings to all of you in your new home. Condo living isn’t all that bad, as I’ve learned in the past three years…no yard work and someone else shovels the walks in the winter. Not too bad! (then again, I’m a lot older than you guys and I’ve “been there, done that” for a long time!)
I love how you are all open to what God wants, and know that He always shows up. Thanks for sharing!
