a day at the park w the girls
So the other night Ashley and I watched the new Brad Pitt movie,”The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. If you haven’t seen it – I recommend it from a cinamatic adventure stand point – just make sure you have 3 hours to watch it and a few hours to process it. Basic point – Brad Pitts charactor is born and lives life in reverse. So as a baby – hes an old man – wrinkles, bad hearing – you get the idea…and as he ages – he goes backwards – so – born and old man baby – dies as a normal baby…
ANYWAY – watch it for an interesting movie experience…
I bring up this movie – cause in it – he has a daughter – but makes a hard choice about how to raise her because of his condition…(I will say no more to not ruin it for anyone).
Amazingly – this movie made me examine my life as a daddy. And it needs to be said…being a daddy is the most fantastic thing. There are so many very important responsibilites as a dad – providing (food, shelter, safety…hopefully college one day), spiritual leadership – teaching my little girl about Jesus’ love for her, loving her mommy in a way that shows her what sort of husband she should look for one day…among many others…and there are also – a lot of very “little” things…but even the most little tasks are important. For EXAMPLE – I think one of my favorite things as a daddy is taking care of my little girl while she is not even aware that i’m doing it. Every night after we put Jadyn to bed and before we go to bed, Ashley or I will go in the girls room and check on her, move her back on her pillow – cover her back up (seriously – some nights you’d think this girl was swiming the english channel in her sleep)…I LOVE this moment. I find myself just staring at her – and I love that this is a moment that I get to take care of her – protect her – and comfort her – and she doesnt even know i’m doing it.
So now – lets take a deeper look. Isnt this a lot like God – as our father – for us. I know for my life – God works a ton in the unseen places of my life – and my families life…Often when I have no idea that He’s at work – He’s putting in overtime on me.
I’m also very excited for baby #2…which – potentially – is coming sooner than later…WHOA – keep us in your prayers – Particularly my lovely Ashley – as its more work for her than me…
